"A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." (Galatians 6:7-8) The harvest is what we face every year. This is a wonderful time to reap fruits of our work. In our Church this holiday is celebrated in a special way. Every year the hall is decorated and in the center there is a display which is laid out by ripe fruits (vegetables and fruit). September, 26, 2010 was not an exception. The holiday began with a solemn hymn of chorus and words of the pastor of the Church that while there is time of God's grace - sowing and a harvest won't be stopped. It encouraged many who came to the House of Prayer that Sunday morning. Kids from Sunday school presented an interesting program with verses and a sketch.
The harvest is the result of an estimation of our life. In Leviticus 23:10-11 - it is said that we should come in the presence of the Lord carrying the very first and the best we’ve done before Him. What is in our hands? Do we have any fruits? What are they? Whether we please the Lord coming in His presence? Each Christian has to answer these questions. Brother Vladimir Lyubovich has called the believers for this in his sermon. What celebration can be without guests? Many representatives of Churches of the Sevastopol region and visitors from other Churches of our brotherhood came there. Brother Jury Kuznetsov from Church "Transfiguration" shared the thoughts about necessity of being grateful for everything that God does in our life. «Today our gratitude is hanging on a thread» - he said. People have ceased to be thankful. On what does our gratitude depend? In the message to Romans 1:18-21 Apostle Paul says, that people have not glorified and did not thank God. So let’s thank God for the spiritual life, for our spiritual growth, pray for our faith to become stronger and we have power to stand temptations! Psalm 148 is a sample of thanksgiving for us». The pastor of the Central Church in Sevastopol Sergei Medvedev. shared the thoughts from the Gospel from John 15:1-8. «God plants us in those conditions in which we grow. While you are in Church, you can serve Him, but when you are not, you lose forces and you are cut away», - Sergey said. The members of the musical groups "Heavens" Alexey Prikotenko and Paul Karakuts from Church in Kacha glorified our God by singing. ![]() That day there was one more not common event: an announcement of the groom and the bride or as it is called - engagement. Pastor Igor Nejkov presented Denis Ruzhitskiy and Albina Shtanina to the Church and announced them the groom and the bride. Words from the Bible were told and soon we are looking forward to the wedding! The three-hour divine service flew like a moment!. In the evening all believers and invited guests gathered again to share fellowship and the gifts the Lord granted us this year. The youth prepared an interesting program with singing and Christian sketches. The children's chorus from Kacha also pleased all those present with wonderful singing. And that remarkable day was filled with not only spiritual blessings. The words of the Scripture «A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." (Galatians 6:7-8) will stay in the hearts! Anastasia Sushkova, press center of Open Hearts Church, Sevastopol Photo of Denis Sidorov Translated by Zoya Poverennova
